WBIR Covers a Special Tribute to Big John Tate
We are grateful to WBIR for sharing the story of Knoxville honoring Big John Tate with an honorary street name. “Big John Tate Corner” is the honorary name for Lakeside Street off Magnolia Avenue, just behind the Golden Gloves Gym where he trained.
This tribute helps preserve the legacy of a hometown champion and connects Big John Tate’s story to the very place where his boxing journey was shaped. It is a meaningful recognition of both his impact on the sport and the history of Golden Gloves in Knoxville.
